Result, the Ayutthaya artisans didnt have much time to spend on creating beautiful
Buddha images. Generally, the Ayutthaya Buddha images are strong, decisive, and marked by a soldierly dignity and da not convey the sense of spiritual fervor of their
Sukhothai predecessors.
The Ayutthaya Buddha images could be divided into 2 styles :
1) U Thong Style ( 12th 15th century ) U-Thong is situated in the central region of Thailand. The Buddha image style is a combination of Dvaravati, Lopburi, and Sukhothai art forms. The U-Thong Period Buddha images are divided into three styles. The first is influenced mainly by Dvaravati art, having a rather square face. The second style has a deeper square face with a more curved nose. Meanwhile, the third style is influenced by Sukhothai art with an egg-shaped face.
2) Ayutthaya Style (15th 18th century ) Ayutthayas Buddha images possessed
The following characteristics : an oval or square face, a flame-like finial on top
Of the head and marked line of hair edge on the forehead. The end of the robe hangs
From the shoulders to navel, ending in a straight line.
